August 30, 2025: Roundtable discussion on witch hunt victims in Nigeria’s Imo State
On August 30, 2025, Dr. Leo Igwe’s organisation Advocacy for Alleged Witches (AfAW) will hold an open-access roundtable discussion in Owerri, the capital of Nigeria’s Imo State, intended to commemorate those killed and/or attacked on account of being suspected of being ‘witches’ or metaphysically empowered ‘evil’.
A digital poster regarding this event has been circulated by Igwe on social media—and its screenshot can be accessed below.
To be held in Mayfair Hotel, located on the Egbu Road, the event will start at 10 AM and will see the presence of civic leaders, activists, reporters, members of the local administrative and political strata, relatives and friends of witch hunt victims, and general public.
Inquiries regarding this event may be made on these numbers: +234-8033704992 and +234-8130593605

It is useful to note that only a few days later, on September 01, Dr. Igwe will also lead a so-called ‘Teaching Critical Thinking in Schools’ workshop in the same city, Owerri. Details regarding that event can be accessed via this link: https://www.thoughtfox.xyz/bits/september-01-2025-owerri-imo-state-nigeria-teaching-critical-thinking-in-schools-workshop-leo-igwe
Igwe had recently accused the African Independent Television (AIT) of demanding a large sum of money for a prospective brief appearance on its show Kaakaki.
