May 22, 2026 (10 PM IST): Ekam Nyaay founder to interview YouTuber jailed for calling India’s judiciary a dictatorship
by Piyush Mathur
Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj, the founder of the Gurugram-based Ekam Nyaay Foundation and vocal advocate on men’s rights in India, will hold a video conversation on X later tonight with an Indian YouTuber sentenced to 6 months of simple imprisonment by the Delhi High Court for insulting India’s judiciary. Bhardwaj’s handle on X is the following: DEEPIKABHARDWAJ
The YouTuber, Gulshan Pahuja, is himself reportedly an advocate, though Thoughtfox has not been able to identify or confirm where and whether he argues legal cases. His YouTube channel, Fight 4 Judicial Reforms is in Hindi, and currently has only a little over six thousand subscribers and 475 uploads.
Pahuja was sentenced on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, under India’s notorious Contempt of Courts Act, 1971—via the punishment provision in Section 12(1)—which allows ‘simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months’ for contempt of court. The sentence currently stands suspended for 60 days, pending his appeal against it in the Supreme Court.
According to an NDTV report, three district judges had a filed a complaint in the Delhi High Court against Pahuja after he named them in an October 2024 video imputing that no justice may be expected in cases being argued in their courts. His other videos have also criticised India’s judiciary, including the Supreme Court. In his court appearance on Wednesday, he repeated his viewpoint that India’s judiciary is a dictatorship.
In her post on LinkedIn announcing her upcoming talk with Pahuja on X, Bhardwaj stressed that Pahuja ‘has been fighting for judicial reforms for more than a decade’, ‘demanded video recordings of court proceedings to ensure transparency’, ‘said he has lost faith in Judiciary and does not expect any Justice’, and ‘refused to apologise when asked and hence he's being sent to Jail’.
Notably, Pahuja’s sentencing comes in the midst of several controversies that have been plaguing India’s judiciary, and specifically the Chief Justice of India’s Supreme Court. Through May 16-21, for instance, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)—a satirical protest movement founded by Abhijeet Dipke—exploded on Instagram after Chief Justice Surya Kant’s remarks likening unemployed youth to ‘cockroaches’ triggered backlash online.
In two days, the CJP’s Instagram account had roughly 40,000 followers, and in less than a week it had grown to 10–20 million followers; its X account briefly crossed 200,000 followers before being withheld and later restored in India. By May 21, 2026, at least 2–3 trademark applications had been filed in India seeking rights over the name ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ under Class 45 political/social services.
