April 29, 2026: Liverpool’s Casa Bar to host screening of Palestine medical documentary

by Piyush Mathur

At 7 PM on April 29, 2026, Wednesday, Liverpool Friends of Palestine will screen a documentary in Liverpool’s Casa Bar on aspects of the deepening medical crisis in Palestine. The entry to the event is free, though people will be able to make donations.

Titled Sumud: a doctor’s report on genocide and survival in Gaza(2025), the film is 26 minutes; it is directed by Jan Haaken, Professor Emeritus of Psychology at Portland State University, USA. (A general record of Palestine’s medical situation can be explored via Wikipedia’s dedicated site: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attacks_on_health_facilities_during_the_Gaza_war .)

‘Sumud’ is an Arabic word meaning ‘steadfastness or steadfast perseverance’.

The Casa Bar is located on Hope Street, Liverpool, UK. Registered as a Charitable Trust Organisation, per its website; it is close to the city’s Anglican and Roman Catholic Cathedrals.

The digitally circulated poster for the event can be viewed below.

The image includes the X-ray of a child from Palestine.
