October 7, 2026: ‘Power and resistance in the age of tech oligarchy’, free online talk

Aiha Nguyen, director of Data & Society’s Labor Futures programme, will host a free online talk on October 7, 2026, with Clarissa Redwine, JS Tan, and Quinn Slobodian. Redwine and Tan have coauthored the book Against Tech Oligarchy: Worker Resistance in the World’s Most Powerful Industry (Haymarket Books, 2026), while Slobodian has coauthored, with Ben Tarnoff, Muskism: A Guide for the Perplexed (Harper, 2026). The talk will revolve around the contents of these two books, which broadly address the themes of concentration of money and power in the American technology industry, the overarching cult of Elon Musk, and resistance to both.
