October 21, 2026: Grant deadline for US-based Communities leading on Artificial Intelligence

by Piyush Mathur

Humanity AI, a U.S.-based philanthropic initiative fiscally sponsored by Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors (RPA), has put out a grant call for US-based community-led initiatives involving Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Applications for the grants under consideration must be submitted by the following time/date:

4:59 p.m. PT / 7:59 p.m. ET on Wednesday, October 21, 2026

The grants will be allocated in one of the following three tiers:

$75,000 – $150,000; $150,000–$500,000; or $500,000–$1,000,000.

The total disbursement will amount to USD 10 million.

While international organisations or individuals may be included as partners in a grant proposal and its execution, an eligible initiative must focus on American communities and be led by a US-registered group.

A proposal must focus on any of the following three categories: education; labour and economy; and ‘humanities, arts, and culture’. However, the initiative should not be research-oriented or about AI literacy or adoption; it must focus on community activism and leadership intended to get maximum benefit from AI for the people—or preventing specific harm(s) to them from AI (say, within a locality).

A detailed description, including a video, of what Humanity AI is looking to fund here is available on this link:

The above link also includes a portal through which one can prepare and submit an application.

All the best!
