October 7, 2026: Free webinar on open-source digital archiving of human-rights violations and evidence curation

Mnemonic, a Berlin-based international non-governmental organisation, will host a free webinar on October 7, 2026, on open-source digital archiving meant to assist in identifying and prosecuting human-rights violations worldwide. Formally titled ‘Power of Archiving: Unlocking the Potential of Open-Source Digital Evidence for Justice and Accountability’, the webinar has the support of Luminate, the U.S.-based grant-making organisation.
This will be a 2-hour event that will commence at 9:30 AM Central European Summer Time (CEST), which will be 8:30 AM in Nigeria; 10:30 AM in Saudi/Qatar/Kuwait/Bahrain/Israel/Palestine/Egypt/Kenya/Ethiopia/Tanzania/
Uganda; 11:30 AM in UAE/Oman; 12:30 PM in Mauritius and Pakistan; 1 PM in India, and 1:30 PM in Bangladesh.

Once a person has registered via the above link, he or she will receive a Google Meet link on his or her email address. If the person does not have a Google account or Gmail, then the person will have to join the event on his or her browser (rather than via Google application).
Going by the information available on its website, Mnemonic is registered as an international non-government organisation in Berlin, Germany. In its description advertising this event on expert platforms , the organisation notes that it ‘archives and verifies digital open-source information documenting human rights violations and international crimes globally’. (Mnemonic’s website already includes Syrian, Yemeni, Ukrainian, and Sudanese archives.)
Mnemonic noted the following in its message explaining the webinar:
The webinar will explore how digital open-source information, particularly social media content depicting human rights violations, can be forensically archived at scale to support research, advocacy, and accountability efforts. The session will share key principles and good practices for documenting and preserving digital open-source information to enhance its accessibility, integrity, admissibility, and long-term usability.
