Sept. 28-30, 2025: Women Political Leaders (WPL) Summit, Montenegro

The Women Political Leaders Summit 2025 will be held in Podgorica, Montenegro, through September 28-30.

The Summit is co-hosted by the Brussels-based Women Political Leaders (WPL)—’an independent, international, post-partisan and not-for-profit foundation’, per its self-description on its website—and the Parliament of Montenegro.

The core of the WPL is ‘women in political office’—no matter the level.

The thematic title for this year’s meeting is ‘Future Positive: Building Trust, Driving Progress’.

As of August 13, one could still apply to attend the summit via this form.

The WPL was founded by Silvana Koch-Mehrin, a German politician who was the Vice President of the European Parliament (2009-2011) and Member of the European Parliament (2004-2014).

A disgraceful patch in Koch-Mehrin’s career was when she had her doctoral degree and title rescinded by Heidelberg University in 2011. She would go on to contest the university’s decision legally, but the court would ultimately uphold the university’s verdict.
