February 24, 2026: Free webinar on Sudan’s peace alternatives

Co-sponsored by The Journal of Encounters, a free webinar on Sudan’s future is being organised by Pax Christi International, the Brussels-based global Catholic network. To be held on February 24, 2026 (6 PM Khartoum/5 PM CET/9:30 PM IST/8 PM MUT), the event will seek to explore alternative pathways to peace in the war-ravaged Sudanese region. The event will fall on February 25, midnight, in the People’s Republic of China (PRC).

Titled ‘Sudan: possible paths to peace?’, the webinar promises to host the following speakers to present their views and proposals:

Mad Gabriel, Sudanese independent researcher;

Zahra Hayder Ibrahim, Sudanese activist and facilitator; Founder and Executive Director of the Sudan-based Waey Organization

Marija Marovic, Serbian project manager and researcher with international experiences, including in Sudan; and

John Prendergast
, the Founding Director of the Washington, D.C.-based Enough Project.

To be held on Zoom, the event will have introductory and closing remarks from Martha Inés Romero, a Colombian who has been Pax Christi International Secretary General since January 1, 2023; it will be moderated by Dr. Mawa Abdelbagi Osman Mohamed and Giulia Bordin.
