Upcoming release: ThruTracker 3.0, an advanced wildlife tracking, behavioural analysis software
The software company ThruTracker Analytics is preparing to launch Version 3.0 of its wildlife-tracking platform, rebuilt entirely in Python.
According to the company’s website, the software was born from ‘20 years of field experience in bat videography’—and has been around since 2019, when it was conceptualised by founder Dr. Aaron Corcoran.
Set to be released in the first quarter of 2026, ThruTracker 3.0 is claimed to have been built from scratch in Python apparently because it is ‘the leading language for computer vision and AI.’
The 3.0 version promises to support high-speed batch processing of thermal, near-infraRed (NIR) and visible videos, with an emphasis on transparency (‘no black boxes’) and configurable analytics aimed at researchers and conservation practitioners.
