26–28 November 2025: Privacy Symposium Africa (Hybrid Mode)

The Privacy Symposium Africa (PSA) 2025 will be held in Lagos, Nigeria, through 26-28 November, though one can participate in it online as well.
The official title of the event is PSA 2025: Redefining Privacy, Power, and Trust in Africa’s Digital Future.

The registration as well as the attendance—be it online or in-person—is free; even the two masterclasses mentioned in the registration form will be offered free-of-cost.

People can also approach the PSA 2025 organisers with their proposals to host panels; there is also an open call for paper submissions (subject to review) that could be included in the event. The deadline to submit one’s paper via the above link is September 26, 2025.
The PSA platform, according to its website, dates to 2019—and was founded by Unwanted Witness (UW), headquartered in Kampala, Uganda.
Given the PSA’s focus on privacy rights, it is curious that its registration form for the 2025 event requires the applicants to feed their Whatsapp numbers (and not just their email addresses) into the form (mentioned above). Many people from around the world don’t use Whatsapp at all—or would not want to share their Whatsapp numbers with organisations they don’t have to be in contact with on a regular basis.
