Applications open for ‘NIAS Safe Haven Fellowship Programme’

The Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences (NIAS) began accepting applications in late July for its ‘Safe Haven Fellowships’ for the first semester of the 2027-2028 academic year.

The deadline for submitting an application is 12 PM (Noon, CET) on December 14, 2026.

For the stipulated period, there are only 3 fellowships on offer; each fellowship will be for 5 months. The working language for the fellowships will be English, and the applicants are expected to be fluent in it.

These fellowships are meant for humanistic, creative, and journalistic researchers located in crisis-ridden areas, such as Palestine, Sudan, Myanmar, and other parts of the world that are plagued by violence. The fellowships will cover all the costs for the selected candidates.
