12 Bonn-based doctoral positions in ‘reconciliation’ research have September 17, 2026, deadline

The Rhenish Friedrich Wilhelm University of Bonn has been circulating a call for 12 fully remunerated doctoral positions under a programme titled ‘Reconciliation and its Equivalents in a Transcultural Comparison’.
The programme is floated under the aegis of Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) or the German Research Foundation, which seeks ‘to promote early career researchers’ through specialised training groups hosted by specific German universities. The given programme will fund the12 seats from February 1, 2027, to January 31, 2031 on a fixed contract that will be monitored by the DFG Research Training Group 3125.
The selected candidates will participate in the group’s research activities while writing their doctoral theses.
The eligibility requirements to make a viable application include an ability to work as part of a team; an interdisciplinary mindset; a C1-level proficiency in English if the thesis is to be in English (but a B2-level English proficiency is the minimum required anyway); and a completed Master’s degree in a relevant Humanistic discipline.

References, CV, 2-page cover letter, 5-page project outline, proof of English language proficiency (may be submitted after the start of employment if necessary), letters of recommendation (may be submitted if invited to an interview)
Those selected will be interviewed ‘in the first half of October’, according to the call.

It may be useful to note that '65%’ in the call’s text means that the given positions—referred to as ‘Doctoral Research Associates’—are equal to roughly 65% of a full-time workload/salary at the university; the term GRAKO means Graduiertenkolleg, German for Research Training Group (which in the given instance is the DFG Research Training Group 3125, as noted previously).
