August 10, 2026: Talk on ‘Digital Homeland’, refugees, and citizens

The Bangladesh-based University of Chittagong will soon host a seminar seeking to shine a light into the interlocking themes of citizenship and migration—especially including refugees and displaced persons—within the context of the rising global importance of digital spaces. The seminar is organised by the Refugee and Migration Lab (RML), an open network of international researchers, activists, and observers concerned with migration issues worldwide.

Titled ‘Making the Digital Homeland: Everyday Digital Practices and Citizenship Narratives’, the talk will have Dr. Suruchi Mazumdar of the University of Nottingham Malaysia as the guest speaker, with Dr. Mohammad Sahid Ullah of the University of Chittagong serving as a discussant. The panel will be moderated by the University of Chittagong’s Professor Dr. Nasir Uddin, who is also the director of the Refugee and Migration Lab (RML).

The venue for the seminar—which is open to the public—will be the Social Science Faculty Conference Room at the University of Chittagong. The event will commence at 11 AM on August 10, 2026.
