Yep, you read that right! The Yola-based American University of Nigeria (AUN) has begun accepting applications for its first cohort of the 6-week long ‘Solar Energy Practical Training Course’, commencing February 2, 2026.

In a January 12 LinkedIn post, university president Dr. DeWayne Frazier touted the new programme as a way for organisations to save money, highlighting AUN’s own savings from using solar energy.

‘This new program at AUN can really save organisations millions of Naira’, he claimed in his post. ‘We had electricity bills for over 140 millions (approx. $100,000 USD) and after this, it’s been cut to approximately 40 million. Projecting out, around 1.2 billion NGN in savings annually’, he added.

Registration & contact details

The course will cost a trainee ₦180,000, though there is an ‘Early Bird’ discount of ₦30,000 on that fee. Unfortunately, no cut-off date is indicated for that discount in the digital poster circulated by AUN (and whose screenshot is pasted at the end of this notice). The poster also shows no URL for either the university or the course specifically. Even the symbol for ‘Naira’ is substandard in the poster: It should be ₦, but it is N.

Nevertheless, the poster does provide the following email address for registration: adeniyi.agbowu@aun.edu.ng

One could also send queries about the course to that email address—or to this one: faridah.bello@aun.edu.ng

The following two phone numbers can also be used for the queries: 0703-2462-671 & 0805-048-4345

Payments for registration will have to made via GT Bank, to the following account name & number: AUN Special Project; 021594-4655

Crosscheck the above details on the poster’s image provided below.
